We’re happy to announce the 2010 Hitachi Yoshiyama Young Entrepreneurs winners. And the winner’s are:
BTTR Ventures– A 100% sustainable, for-profit urban mushroom farm founded in Berkeley, CA. The farm grows gourmet mushrooms on recycled coffee grounds from a leading national coffeehouse chain diverting more than 7000 lbs a week from the landfill.
GTECH – A Pittsburgh-based non-profit social enterprise dedicated to fostering community and growing the green economy by repurposing neglected land.
Hot Bread Kitchen – An artisan bakery in Brooklyn, NY that offers a unique line of multi-ethnic breads.
The Intersect Fund– A New Brunswick, NJ-based non-profit organization that empowers low-income entrepreneurs to start businesses, build assts, generate income, and spark change in their communities
La Cocina– A full-service, shared use commercial kitchen and micro-enterprise business incubator serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Re:char– A renewable energy company in Austin, TX that designs and builds low-cost, carbon-negative bioenergy plants for low-income agricultural or forestry communities across the United States.
