Tom Stearns, Founder, High Mowing Organic Seeds
Tom Stearns founded High Mowing Organic Seeds, a 100% certified organic seed company, in 1996. High Mowing is one of the only farm-based and independently owned seed companies in the U.S. and was the founder of the Safe Seed Pledge in 2000 and in 2007, filed a lawsuit against GMO's. Tom has been involved in many community development projects and also served on the board of numerous organizations including the Northeast Organic Farming Assoc. of VT, The Bio-dynamic Seed and Plant Assoc., is currently the President of The Center for an Agricultural Economy and helped found Slow Money and coordinated much of Slow Money's Vermont research. Tom lives in VT with his wife and two daughters.
