Carol Atwood

Carol is founder and President of Spartacus Capital which provides consulting and advisory services to organizations requiring high level strategic partnerships and/or support with fundraising.  Past projects have covered an array of sectors including: clean tech, emerging markets, natural resources and the social media sectors.  We approach each project by carefully assessing the needs of our client and applying the different skill sets of our team as deemed appropriate to add significant value and reach to the project goals.

Carol Atwood is a successful entrepreneur who is actively involved in creating and participating in socially focused ventures, with a primary focus in alternative energy,  emerging markets and social networking.  She is a recipient of many awards, including “NYC Entrepreneur of the Year” award, which was sponsored by NASDAQ, Kaufmann Foundation, and Ernst and Young.  Ms. Atwood formerly owned and operated TMG, an international marketing company that developed programs for Fortune 500 companies. In 1997, TMG was named Company of the Year by the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies and ranked among the top 100 women-owned businesses by Working Woman magazine, placing between Martha Stewart and Oprah Winfrey. Carol is on the board of the Calvert Foundation. Calvert Foundation's goal is to maximize the flow of capital to disadvantaged communities in order to foster a more equitable and sustainable society.

Carol is also on the board of directors of King Arthur Flour, the third largest flour company in the U.S giving Carol a keen understanding of grain farming and commodity sales in America.

Carol is a board member of both IW Financial IW Financial is a company that offers web based applications that empower advisors and money managers to quickly identify the social and environmentally sound investments that best meet their clients' specific financial and corporate practices criteria such as board diversity, governance and environmental issues.

Ms. Atwood recently served on the steering committee of Boston College’s Institute for Responsible Investment. IRI is lead by the chief investment officer of Domini Investments, Steve Lydenberg. The organizations purpose is to mainstream the concepts underlying socially responsible investment with an emphasis on environmental investment.

Ms. Atwood has been on the Impact and Messaging Committee of the Social Investment Forum, a national non-profit membership association dedicated to promoting the concept, practice and growth of socially and environmentally responsible investing,

Ms. Atwood is a partner in the network of The CSR Group. The CSR Group is a consulting and communications firm that works with businesses and organizations to address issues of corporate social responsibility. The CSR Group has a partnership with Environs, one of the leading environmental consulting firms in the U.S.

 

Additionally, Carol is passionate about utilizing media for social change and serves on many boards and committees that address this vision such as the Filmmaker’s Collaborative in Boston, MA.
